As part of becoming fully integrated in the value chain – from roe to harvest – KIME Akva has acquired the majority shareholding in Tomma Settefisk, located on the island of Tomma in Nesna Municipality. The company is now named KIME Akva Tomma. Here, we plan to expand capacity and further develop the facility to produce up to 6 million cod smolt by 2025, with three production cycles per year.
The production of smolt depends on having a stable and predictable supply of fry.
The fry are transported to Tomma for further growth once they have adapted to dry feed.

Fertilized eggs are supplied by Nofima through the state-funded breeding program located at Kraknes in Tromsø. KIME Akva has an agreement with Akvaplan-niva for the production of up to six million two-gram cod fry annually at their facilities in Kraknes through 2028. This ensures access to our own smolt for our sea farming sites. It provides flexibility in release size throughout the year and across locations, as well as smolt of high quality, with low production costs and strong performance potential in the sea phase.
