Sustainability Strategy

Our sustainability strategy aims to highlight the company’s commitments and objectives within environmental and fish welfare, local ripple effects, working environment, and economic profitability. The company’s sites and operational regime will be certified according to Global G.A.P., and we are advocating for cod farming to also be certified under the ASC standard.

In our vision, “We create lasting value along the coast – on the cod’s and nature’s terms,” we express a responsibility to include and involve the local communities where we operate. This applies to the entire value chain, including employment and supplier services, from a long-term perspective.

Operations shall ensure the welfare of the cod throughout its entire life cycle, from egg to harvest…

…. This requires that the fish are well cared for during both the fry and smolt stages.

To succeed in sustainability, we must promote greater transparency, awareness of the aquaculture industry, and insight into the company among customers, local communities, and policymakers. We will also be a driving force in ensuring that our suppliers meet our expectations related to sustainability.

Many of the UN Sustainable Development Goals are relevant to aquaculture, and KIME Akva has decided to place particular emphasis on the following goals:

Bærekraftsmål 2: Utrydde sult. Ikon.

Zero Hunger

Bærekraftsmål 8: Anstendig arbeid og økonomisk vekst. Ikon.

Decent Work and Economic Growth

Bærekraftsmål 11: Bærekraftige byer og lokalsamfunn. Ikon.

Sustainable Cities and Communities

Bærekraftsmål 12: Ansvarlig forbruk og produksjon. Ikon.

Global G.A.P.

Global G.A.P. is an international standard that ensures food is produced in a sustainable and safe manner. The standard sets requirements to ensure that employees work safely and have secure social conditions, that the fish are provided with good welfare throughout their life cycle, and that production minimizes environmental impact.

Sertifikat for Global GAP

Sustainability, HSE, and food safety within the aquaculture sector are becoming increasingly important. As a Global G.A.P.–certified company, we strive for sustainable farming practices that go beyond official regulations. Our quality management system is audited and verified annually to ensure compliance with the requirements of the standard.
